Children's books could be a key tool to help young people learn about kindness. In fact, some of the best-known children's books contain messages about being kind to others and the importance of friendship, according to truthfrequencyradio.com.

Researchers spoke to Grade 3 students recently to find out what messages they understood after reading some well-known children's stories. The tales included A Little Princess by Frances Hodgson Burnett, Charlotte's Web by E.B. White and Horton Hears a Who! by Dr. Seuss.

The children responded to their questions with the answer that A Little Princess shared the message that you can help others by giving your time to them and being nice.

Charlotte's Web taught the children that giving doesn't have to involve physical items or presents, and that being kind to someone else is the best form of giving.

And apparently Horton Hears a Who! illustrated how even if a person is different they don't have to be treated badly. People who are younger, smaller or speak a different language all deserve kindness.

These are important messages for kids today to be learning, as the prevalence of cyber-bullying among children continues to increase. So why not turn off the computer tonight and read a children's book with your child - you never know, you may learn something new too.
